Franklin County Health Commissioner, MPA

Commissioner Mazzola was appointed as Health Commissioner in January of 2017. He was originally hired at Franklin County Public Health as the Director of Health Systems and Planning in November of 2015. Prior to joining the department, Mr. Mazzola worked at the Ohio Department of Health for seven years where he held a variety of positions including Local Health Department Liaison. Before working for the Ohio Department of Health, Mr. Mazzola served as the Policy and Government Liaison for the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation and a Regional Policy Coordinator at the American Lung Association.

In addition to being Franklin County’s health commissioner, Mr. Mazzola currently serves as the Immediate Past-President of the Association of Ohio Health Commissioners. He has previously served as an at-large member of the governing council of the Ohio Public Health Association and chair of the Shared-Services subcommittee of the Public Health in the Twenty-first Century with the Ohio Public Health Partnership. He is also a current board member of the American Heart Association of Central Ohio and the Central Ohio Trauma System.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marietta College and a Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree from Kent State University.
