Food Safety

What We Do

We protect the community against foodborne illnesses by licensing and inspecting any business that sells food. We inspect restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, schools and daycares, hospitals and care facilities, food trucks and temporary food vendors at festivals.

How We Help

Plan Review:

  • Whether you are starting a new food business, purchasing an existing food business or remodeling your current food business, you will need to submit a Permanent Food Facility application on the Accela app. Existing Food licenses are not transferred to the new owners.

Mobile and Temporary Food Businesses:

For a mobile food business:

  • Your mobile food business must be inspected before operating.
  • You must move the mobile to a new location every 40 days.

For a temporary food license:

  • Limit of 10 temporary licenses per year.

License Renewal:

  • Your food license will expire March 1st of every year. You can begin renewing your license on February 1st of every year. You can pay on through Accela.
  • All food license types and fees are in our Fee Schedule.
  • You will have to pay a 20% late fee if you renew on or after March 1st.

Welcome to Accela

Franklin County Public Health is pleased to provide online access to services online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to conduct day-to-day business tasks that previously required paper applications, paper building plans, and payment only by check or cash. This system will also provide secure payment by credit/debit card.

Accela Citizen Access

First time users need to create an account in Accela Citizen Access in order to register as a contractor, submit plans, apply for permits, or request inspections.
