What I Love About Public Health – Erick

To celebrate Valentine’s Day here at Franklin County Public Health, we decided to talk to some of our staff about what they love about serving our communities!

We were lucky to have a heart-to-heart with Erick from Emergency Preparedness during a Q&A!:

What do you love about your job?

“I love the fact that every day as an Emergency Preparedness Planner, I am always thinking about ways to protect our community by providing them the tools and resources to overcome a threat or hazard.”

What do you love about public health?

“I love the fact that in public health, we can actually provide services that directly impact our community in the most positive ways!”

What makes your job important in the context of public health?

“Public Health came to realize the importance of Emergency Preparedness (management) during the COVID-19 pandemic, where we were at the front center of coordinating and managing the vaccination clinics (POD) and other community preparedness campaigns.”

Anything you want the general public to know?

“That being an Emergency Preparedness Planner and a Stop the Bleed Coordinator for the Agency has given me the possibility to meet and work with great people who really care about their community and fellow human. This motivates me to keep on going!”
