Mosquitoes are known carriers of diseases such as West Nile virus.
The cornerstone of FCPH's Integrated Mosquito Management is surveillance, which involves trapping and counting mosquitoes, identifying the species, and performing disease testing on the mosquitoes.

In Ohio, ticks carry three diseases that that are of concern.
Avoiding ticks is the best prevention against the diseases they carry. They are abundant in the spring and summer months and are are most commonly found in wooded and bushy areas and high grass.
