Emergency Preparedness

What We Do

The Emergency Preparedness (EP) team helps our whole community prepare for, respond to and recover from public health emergencies.

How We Help

Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP)

  • Two figures with cog iconOur team conducts various trainings and exercises to evaluate and improve how ready we are for emergencies.
  • Two circular arrows iconWe continuously meet with community partners to take an all-hazards approach that considers the full scope of emergencies or disasters when planning for ability to respond and limiting risks.

Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI)

  • The CRI grant provides funding to metropolitan areas to improve their ability to rapidly distribute life-saving medical countermeasures, such as vaccines, antibiotics, and antiviral drugs, to the entire population within 48 hours during a public health emergency.

Regional Emergency Preparedness

  • Organization structure iconDisasters are not attached to any single area or agency. Our Regional Public Health Coordinator (RPHC) leads the emergency preparedness efforts of the Central Region’s 17 health departments.

Stop the Bleed Training

  • Figure with chalkboard iconWe coordinate free, 1-hour STB trainings for residents and community members of Franklin County. Trainings are offered during normal business hours or after hours, Monday – Friday, at your location or at our building.
  • Liquid droplet iconWe help you learn to recognize the signs of and control life-threatening bleeding.
  • Certificate ribbon iconCompleting the training helps you receive a STOP THE BLEED® certification, and a free STB Kit (while supplies last). Sign up for your training!
