Amy Fairchild
Dean of the College of Public Health at The Ohio State University

Amy Lauren Fairchild, dean of the College of Public Health at The Ohio State University, is a historian who works at the intersection of public health ethics and policy. Whether exploring the tension between privacy and surveillance, immigration and border control, or paternalism and liberty, Fairchild assesses the social, political, and ethical factors that shape the potential and limits of the state to intervene for the common good. Fairchild is also concerned with the quality of evidence used to support those interventions.

Fairchild, who came to Ohio State from Columbia University by way of Texas A&M, feels extraordinarily honored to serve as dean of the College of Public Health. Any university with the chutzpah to have a poisonous nut for a mascot is the kind of place she wants to stay.
